Haven't tried out this app, but when it's free for a day it is worth grabbing now, trying later !!

A few Hours Later…..
Okay now i have tried this – this app is so much fun!!
So many different photo effects, easy to navigate – really easy!
The only down fall is that you can’t load pictures to use the effects – you take the shot with what ever effect you have chosen; 45 effects in total, including warping, sketching, theme colours such as Shrek or Avatar, and some very different & unique textures .

Best of The Sesh - Workshop Pics

The "Best of the Sesh" is a selection of photographs taken from junior iPhoneographers at Saleigh's Studio Workshop on Sat 28th Jan. We worked on photography's "rule of thirds" & applied that to  our on-location shots. Below is a collection of the best from that Workshop. I am showing off my students work, like the proud "teacher" that i am.

Check out these shots and more with their Instagram user names.
At Saleigh's Studio workshops there are also competitions for the photos taken & the way they apply the lesson. In this workshop we covered many aspects of 'the composition of a photograph' though we primarily worked on the 'rule of thirds'.

The competition winner will receive a paid app for their efforts.

This workshop prize is the app Camera+ In my honest opinion - this app is an essential part of an iphoneographers capturing abilities. It is also the number one Paid app in the Photo & video Category in the App-store. For good reason. This camera app has a built in-grid assisting the photographer visually with "the rule of thirds" and also has other added specifications to improve the initial capture, the most important process of photography. It also has editing, lighting, cropping & framing tools which are magnificent. So now that i am done promoting Camera+ (cheque please), drum role for the winning shot.....

Please congratulate Miss Amber McWhinnie - aka @strawberriesandcreamm for this magnificent capture.

This image stood out for me, as not only did Amber apply the rule of thirds on the horizon but also managed to capture the playful bubbles that a young girl was blowing, as well as the canoes. This photo is busy, yet still has a key subject, interesting background, fabulous colours & lighting; and also a great composition. An overall Fantastic Photo. it 'breathes' Summer!!

Congratulations again Amber!!! Look out for your free Camera+ app coming your way

Jnr Shutterbugs Workshop

Yesterday Saleigh's Studio met up with some of the Junior iPhoneographers for our first Workshop. I met with my new crew near Ocean Beach, Denmark. It was on the way there that my daughter asked "how does it feel to be a teacher, mum?" Well.... I almost ran off the road! I have never contemplated that i was actually teaching, i just love sharing my passion. Encouraging & supporting others is just an added bonus. Yet here i was, on my way to run a workshop with my "worksheets" in hand. No denying it now, i was about to teach.

Although many did not show up, the ones that did made up for it in enthusiasm & energy. The lesson was on the 'rule of thirds' & applying that to a 'Horizon' shot. I captured some images to show as examples & shot the girls shooting their horizons known in Instagram 'world' as the hash tag #ishotaphotographer

My Jnr Shutterbugs & my Horizon Examples

We also covered many questions in the session regarding apps, Instagram, hash tagging & some editing tips. The Workshop was a complete success & we all had a blast. To cap it all off, a young man approached us at the end showing a keen interest & signed up on the spot. Happy Days.

Stay tuned to see the "Best of the Sesh".

Blue Competition

Blue Competition Now Open!

Saleigh's Studio "Blue Competition" is open until Friday 10th Feb.
Email your "BLUE" shots to Saleigh's Studio & watch this space for entries & inspiration.

As a supporter of young iPhoneographers, below is the tutorial for the editing process i used to create my "blue" image for this competition. I used four (4) different apps in my process.

The original photo
The image was captured using Camera+ & adjusted the lighting to Text & saved to my Library

The Creative Edit
I then Loaded the image into PhotoStudio FX & used the x-ray Vision Cam filter. I then loaded the image into BefunkyPro & adjusted the Vibrancy to 50% & Saved.

Clarity & Cropping

Next i loaded the image back into Camera+ to adjust the lighting to clarity & added the FX vibrancy to 70%. I then cropped the image to a square frame so that no background colour could be seen. I also added a simple white border in Camera+ later on, but that could have been done here... as i am now happy with my image & just need to add some finishing touches.

Signature -aka- Watermark
You can add a signature to your photograph. Copyright is an important law in photography & i always like to mark my photo with my name. I used the app iWatermark to create my signature as well as the other Text for the promotion.
Final Image
So get cracking my shutterbugs & go "Blue".....
